RSC Preservation:
Scythes will be dropped on Halloween day and November 2nd, every hour on the hour for 24 hours, starting at midnight New York time (31 October 2024 00:00 and 2 November 2024 00:00). The drops will appear everywhere except in dungeons and upstairs. Type ::drop for more information. This is the fifth year in a row we are dropping Scythes, following the fifth drop of Bunny Ears this past March. We have a tracking variable in the database to determine in what year a player picked up their first Scythe, and we plan to expose this information publicly on the website at some point, so that users can compare the age of their scythes. We redrop scythes every year so that all users can have the opportunity to obtain the item, without a black-market of selling Scythe enabled accounts. We redrop on November 2nd, since that is what Andrew Gower did in 2003 (though he did it for just 4 hours, we will do it for 24).

RSC Uranium:
Scythes will be dropped on Halloween day and November 2nd, every hour on the hour for 24 hours, starting at midnight New York time (31 October 2024 00:00 and 2 November 2024 00:00). This is the second year that Scythes will be dropped on RSC Uranium. We will continue to redrop scythes every year, keeping a tracking variable in the database of what year a person first picked up their scythe, just like in RSC Preservation.

RSC Cabbage:
RSC Cabbage: Mod Aurora has created a new Halloween mini-quest: "Army of Obscurity"!! (with programming from Ryan and QA from myself). To start, make sure to update your client, then log in and speak to Father Uhrney in Lumbridge Swamp.

In addition to this new mini-quest we are also running the previous Halloween events:
  • "Mice to Meet You" (2021) Featuring Eak the Mouse and Death. Please give it a go if you haven't already! It's a great mini-quest, started by speaking to the Witch in Rimmington.
  • "A Bone to Pick" (2023) Speak to Lily in the field north-east of the Draynor Village crossroads to begin, or just wait around and trouble will find you.
We are also, as we do every year, dropping Trick-or-treat crackers and Scythes. Trick-or-treat crackers will be dropped every hour on the hour, and scythes will be dropped 30 minutes later. Event starts at roughly midnight Halloween Day, New York City time (31 October 2024 00:00).

And by the way, conker has added client scaling to the RSC Cabbage client, which now out today in the same update.

Same as RSC Cabbage! Coleslaw has caught up to RSC Cabbage and now their Halloween events are the same.

Other Halloween events (not hosted by us):
Neat F2P:
(<https://www.neatf2p.com/>) Beast Fable at Neat F2P is manually dropping pumpkins at three different times today, emulating the actual drop of Pumpkins in RSC 23 years ago. We're also not affiliated with Neat F2P either, to clarify. Their server runs on the same Open RSC code base, but utilizing the currently officially unused F2P configuration, which Beast Fable contributed towards refining.

RSC Perfect:
(<http://rscsundae.org/>) If you're not already familiar, RSC Perfect is built from the ground-up only based on data sources and packet captures from the original server. It targets 10 December 2001, and despite being less than a year old, the project seems nearly worthy of the name "Perfect" already. I have heard that Stormy is doing \*something\* on her server today related to Halloween, though the details are a secret. You will need to log in and try it out to find out more.

Not related to Halloween but as long as I'm doing shoutouts, https://www.brightershores.com/ is coming out in just 1 week, November 6th. I'll make a post specifically for this when it comes out. All three Gower brothers have been invested in the creation of this game, Andrew and Paul for about a decade now. The game will feature new original quests by Paul Gower, so please look forward to it.

I've opened a Clan Chat channel called "#Brighter-Shores" in the OpenRSC Discord for all players in the OpenRSC discord interested in joining up and playing together.
