It's been over a year since the last RSC+ update, but actually, conker worked extremely hard throughout a large portion of 2024 to bring this release out. It has been in testing for several months on top of that, due to the very large size of everything that changed.
In short, this release does two major things:
- It is the groundwork needed to provide Server Specific Behaviour. For example, you'll notice right away that Server Populations are displayed on the login screen! We have a lot of ideas about how this capability can be leveraged in the future, but remain committed to maintaining protocol 234 compliance and continuing to provide a version of RSC+ without Server Specific Behaviour implemented. There is a genuinely mindboggling amount of detail and thought that has gone into this. You may read more about it here: https://github.com/RSCPlus/rscplus/blob ... /README.md
- It is the groundwork needed to provide modern native binaries. EXEs on Windows (x64 and x86), DMG for Mac (x64 and Apple Silicon), and AppImage on Linux. Everything is implemented to deploy these, but we are cautiously releasing just the java code changes for now. Conker wrote about these here: https://github.com/RSCPlus/rscplus/blob ... /README.md
